Legality of german plates

Featured Replies

I thought with us being in the EU and all that any EU font would be legal in any EU country? Sure I read this somewhere? If the plates use a genuine EU font and they are the right size, wouldn't they be legal?

it seems to be better if you dont have it d-banded. the local police station has a new beetle parked outside it with german plates and a lupo on ATS cups. I've never been stopped for mine

i have herd lost of post on here about them. i think it must be were u live.

west yorkshire i knwo @ least 5 people with gernman plates and i dont think any of us have been pulled

Does anyone know the actual legality of this? also could u not just say u didn't know as they came with the car when u brought it?

no, they arent legal

not even a little bit

No they're not legal at all, although i've had mine on for a few weeks, had a trip to the coast and drove past 3 traffic cops on the motorways and didn't pull me up.

As people have said before it depends on your area also, I've driven infront of police cars and they've done nothing, although I'm guessing its just a matter of time!

ye definatly about the area you live in, there are quite a few cars around dorset with german plates and nothing seems to get done.

I've have mine for about 4 months and have been followed and seen so many police cars and never had anything done luckily :-D

aint had any hassle here so far and I'm in essex, quite close to london too, suppose theyve got more to worry about like burgularys and murder etc

I've had mine on for the best part of a year and never had any problem. Having the D band definately asks for trouble.

mine are D-banded :ninja:

yes.. but..

Having the tax and area stickers on the plates as well is REALLY asking for trouble!

They are of course.. illegal.. end of!

I've had mine on for ages(when the car was running) and never been stopped

There is a mk4 with white plates front and back with the stickers and the dash running around, so either hes never been stopped or he likes fines

I can't be arsed to ready ANY of the replies because the end of the day they are

ILLEGAL.
