Mk2f Back seat squab plastic pull handle - replacement?

Re-doing some dodgy speaker wiring reminded me what a pain it is, to lift my back seats.

 

The plastic pull handles for the seat squabs snapped some time ago. Does anyone have any ideas on how to replace them? Or have you an alternative handle?

I've tried a cable tie and it wasn't great. A fabric loop sounds more of an option. Which fabric though......a seatbelt like fabric would be good.

More canvas that choth maybe even a kids canvas belt
