Ambient air temperature not reading on dash

Featured Replies

Looking for some advice with a problem I've had on my polo since I've owned it. The dash doesn't read the outside temperature. I've tried replacing the 2 sensors on the drivers side behind the bumper but no joy. Just wondered if anyone knew of any other sensors or have fixed this problem before? Cheers

First welcome to the forum.

Do you have aircon ?

There is one sensor behind the bumper on the passenger side and another sensor in the air inlet trunking for the aircon (if fitted) with the aircon both of these sensors signal to the aircon panel and that sends the info to the speedo via the CANbus wiring, if you don't have aircon the one sensor behind the bumper signals direct to speedo

Hi mate, thank you for the quick response! Yes I do have air con, what's the sensor like to replace in the trunking?

Been looking at the dealer manuals and there is no mention on how to remove it, or exactly where it is mounted, in the wiring diagrams it just says "under the dash" as it's in the inlet, I can only assume it's just below where the polen filter connects to the ducting ??

Okay will have a look in the morning, do you know the part number?

Looking at the google images of it

It appears to be a simple twist to remove/refit
