Fan comes on at high thermostat housing temp - but the switch is  95 coolant temp half way down the rad.  I'll try and measure the block temp when my fan comes on, there are no numbers on my dash temperature  light but needle usually sits just to left of the warning LED - it's a bit to right of that, when it activates, which is not very often. Stop/start queueing after fast motorway journey.

The mk2f has numbers and mine raises up to just a bit under the 110°c mark. When doing 60mph then it sits on just about 90. Not highly worried, but I would like it to switch on at a lower temperature. Maybe should add a two speed switch and two low profile fans with the wide radiator, when I'll go 16v

I have always wondered, but cannot find the info on it - what are the differences from the golf mk4 1.6 16v and the polo 1.6 16v engine? Where does the power difference come from? I have seen something about the inlet manifold and throttle body being a restriction on the golf lump. Maybe the cam is different as well?

There is also vvt on the polo engine, iirc

020 4speed wouldnt fit without major modifications, because the distance from the face of the bellhousing to the holes for the gearbox mount is 10cm more, which ends up under the side member, which means cutting.

Welp, my eyes are peeled for a 16v block with the 085 pattern
