For those of you that have fuel injection may be able to help. I have a custom fuel injection set up using a trigger wheel adapted to the front of a Mk2 crankshaft. The hall effect sensor I have has a threaded body so I can adjust it in and out but due to clearance, I can't get it directly over the top of the trigger wheel so I am asking how close does it have to be before I can expect it to work or do I just have to see if I have a signal to the  ECU ?

1mm or less. mine is almost touching trigger wheel. infact made a groove in it 🙂 ihad it too far initially and at high rpm it would loose signal for a split sec.

As above 1mm is probably a good starting position, it all depends on the sensitivity of the sensor, sometime too close is worse than too far away, as if he sensor is particularly sensitive being too close will swamp the sensor with false pulses that the ECU will not know how to deal with 

Thanks. I will get it close as possible and see if I get a signal. Megasquirt instructions are very specific and stepwise. One sensor must be working and calibrated before progressing on to the next one or else the engine has no chance of starting.
