Got a scrapped DMTL and a to-be-overhauled Weber DMTR with two x 12v idle cut-off solenoids,  so it needs an earth connection.

 

Looked at the donor DMTL body, there's an earth  lead and a bolt. But no screw thread in the same hole on the new body.

It's aluminium, that's easy to cut...

 

 

 

Done.

 

Now, what is behind the brass nut on the donor?

Notice the vacuum take off is on the other side for R and L.

 

Donor (on right) is a 32/34 DMTL 0524 01.

New is a 30/32 DMTR 103/252 5D. 

 

There's a plastic cap on the donor, so you can't tell but it is straight, while the new the vac pipe is swaged, and pull down unit pipe has micro jubilee clips.

Yep, if you can get the image on a big screen it's clearly not really like that.

Yes it is bad pic.I'm planning to reduce the butterfly screw profiles to get more flow.

 

Tried undoing the screws in the donor which are Philips head. One came out easy on the choke butterfly, the other got part way then jammed. I think it has been steeked(?).

 

Bit cautious of damaging the other carb now. Don't think a Dremel circular blade will fit to cut the end off but a burr might. I'll have a play on the donor throttle butterflies first.
