Hi polo people. Hope you're as well as can be. 

I'm hoping to get some help with basic electrics if it's okay. I've been running nightbreakers, (no upgraded loom, just changed stock bulbs for nightbreakers,) in my polo for a couple of years. Been very happy with them. Noticed last week that my driver side head light wasn't working. Got another set, changed it out and the new doesn't work either. The small bulb in the same light works, just not the nightbreaker.

I want to test the wires but want to make sure i'm doing it correctly. 

To check the wires that connect to the bulb, if i set my multi meter to lowest amount of ohms and put the positive probe into each of the three terminals that connect to the end of the bulb, do i put the negative probe on the negative terminal of the battery, the positive or somewhere else? 

Do i need to disconnect the battery negative while i test the wires?

set it to volts 

 

black lead on the neg terminal of battery....red lead into the headlight plug do you get 12v on the white(bright) wire and the yellow (dip )wire with the lights set to on

 

 

now put the black onto the pos terminal....poke the red into the brown wire at the plug , do you get 12 v...or use continuity function to beep the brown wire to earth
