Hi. Please could anyone recommend an non VW original front pipe with cat for my 1.4 16V BKY engine 9N Polo that doesn't keep the engine light on?

I had mine replaced and within days the engine light is on & getting catalyst low efficiency code from the OBD

Was the engine light on with the original front section? Was it replaced because of that, or because it was broken (at the flexi?).

 

Don't suppose you still have it?

Thanks for your reply. The pipe was replaced as the flexi section was blowing. The engine light was not on before. I don't have the old part :(

A VW (so called) specialist in York fitted the replacment part and just said they do somtimes put the engine light on.

That's a shame, 'cos the original cats were probably OK, and a welded new flexi would probably have been cheaper than any aftermarket replacement pipe.

I had this done on my 9N3 a few weeks back, tenner or so for the flexi, and thirty-odd to the welding company.  Making sure the alignment was spot on was very tricky though, with all the bends and kinks it's critical.

 

Maybe try to find an original section in a scrapyard and fix up as necessary? 

 

You should probably have some comeback against the place that fitted a section that is arguably not fit for purpose?
