seen some older threads where folk have converted a 3f into a 1600cc with a AEE  engine , is there any alternate codes that i could look for ?

I am currently running the ABU engine from the MK3 Golf and I think it's the most straight forward swap, because it's pretty much the same architecture as was the AAU. Same timing belt setup (water pump is the tensioner), same thermostat housing, have read about people having downpipe issues with AEE, with ABU it was a direct fit.

The only thing that didnt fit, was the circular airbox. Had to grind and flip the injection unit and drill another hole for the throttle cable. Also the thin flywheel didnt fit, because of the starter, which I had to take from the ABU car, because of ribs on the block.
