I'm having an issue with my GT engined coupe S. Somehow my starter solenoid has inexplicably came loose from the starter motor and all 3 bolts have been lost! Anyone know what size the bolts are? Look like m5 but iv no idea what length they are. I don't want to have to get another starter just for the bolts.

As the solenoid is item 11, it's either item 13 as Nige said or it isn't the solenoid that's come loose?

Item (19) in the diagram are the 'through bolts' that hold the starter motor together - If you have lost these, then the complete starter motor will fall apart. If item (13) are lost, then the solenoid will no longer be attached to the starter motor, but may well stay, more or less in position.

Any ideas where I can buy them new? Google came up with two UK websites but they are both out of stock!

I had originally bought the 30mm bolts, they were very difficult to take hold in the housing so I ordered the 40mm versions. They fit alot better, started the car and all seemed well. Turned it off then started it again. This time the starter motor got jammed on, as in constantly turning while the engine was running, I had to disconnect the battery to stop it! Any ideas what this could be? 

The starter cog/bendix  is not disengaging  from flywheel teeth despite no power to solenoid which pushes the cog forwards down the shaft.

 

It usually disengages when the engine applies more torque than the starter motor at about 500 to 700rpm and the ignition key is released.

 

It might be that the brass starter motor shaft tip bushing tube (like a wide wedding ring) in gearbox housing is damaged/worn (item 7). Especially likely if starter had loose bolts for quite a while. But you had loose solenoid bolts.

Maybe the stirrup item 17 is loose?

 

Or it might be the starter motor cog teeth.
