Looking to buy a gear selector shaft seal for my 1991 coupe GT. VW heritage say they don’t stock so I did an on line hunt and came up with a great selection,but, I want to get this done once so does anyone have a recommendation that they may have used please? 085301227 brings up quite a few.

the vw one has an extra lip on it ...you can buy a seal from a bearing seller for like £2 or less if that sounds expensive...can swap it without dropping the oil too

Thanks Steveo. Not quite sure what you mean when you say VW one has extra lip? Does the one you gave the link to have this “extra lip?”

the ebay one is genuine...like you would get a dealers

 

if you look at an oil seal theres a lip /edge that stop the oil , my vw part had 2 lips if i recall , so might seal a little better  

Well. It’s been a while since I bought a spare from VW  but this one came from my local dealer at a reasonable price.
