Jims Schwartz 2f build

Featured Replies

Hello all!

First off let me introduce myself, I’m not new to the polo scene having 3 2f coupes before this one and a mk2 bready.

After a bit of a hiatus due to getting married and having kids, I’m back!

Here is my mk2f Schwartz black polo genesis.
122k

1.3 5 speed

The plans so far would be

Refurbish the alloys

New doors and wings

New lockset (old one is nackered after attempted break in

Rust removal around the windscreen

New wiper motor

Complete overhaul of brakes and suspension.
Sort out the dodgy electrics wiring in the stereo and sub.
General tidy up such as bay clean and a detail.

possibly a full respray

once this is completed il look at doing some proper modifications, it came already fitted with some, such as a GT cam, ARB blocks, adjustable shocks and springs, Rev limiter, GT clocks and steering wheel.

Thanks for reading!

Bay Progress and rust removal

So I made a start and removed the rust (and hopefully the leak) around the screen and powdercoated the pancake filter top and rocker top in the bay. Needs a good degrease and clean now!

So the front end has been partially removed, bumper and grill have had the boiled linseed oil treatment and respirated the badge back to silver. Crash bar is off ready to powdercoat and the lower crossmember which the radiator sits on will be coming off too.

tempted to replace the radiator while I’ve got the front end off and powdercoat the ARB too. spacer.png

  • 1 year later...

Nice project. Does the 1.3l engine have a carb? Looks like it. When did they switch to injection?

July 1990 was transition to injection for 1.0 litre, and October 1990 for 1.3.

K reg would be 1992.

Blue temperature sensor, and pancake air filter holder says mono-motronic 55bhp to me.

Thanks. That must mean only a few mk2f must be carbs.
