As above, i'm looking to upgrade my standard, front indicator bulbs to led bulbs:

I contacted this company about the legality of it and they sent my a VERY informative/long-winded reply. Also recommended i contact my insurance company and whoever does my MOT to check with them. Both parties are fine with it so i'm going ahead with it. 

 

My question is, do i need to order positive or negative earth bulbs? 

 

I have been made aware that stock relays will not work properly with these bulbs, same company stock the ones i need so will getting these at the same time.

have you looked at youtube reviews on such things...very few are as bright as a normal bulb when tested properly , gave up looking at them after that

If you are only looking at replacing the front bulbs? then the easiest was would be to keep your original flasher unit and fit ballast resistors to the wiring to make the relay think they are standard 21w bulbs, as I suspect the replacement relay they are trying to sell you would be intended for all indicator bulbs being LED's  so if you're keeping the original rears they would try and pull more current than the relay is designed for.

 

The MOT as long as they flash at the correct speed they won't care they are LEDs so just fitting the LEDs with the original relay will make the flash rate outside the requirements but as above fitting ballast resistors will fix that.

 

You will want negative earth ones.

I did wonder if the rear bulbs would cause an issue. My plan was to change the front indicator bulbs and the side light bulbs. If i need to change the rear bulbs, i'm happy to do that. I'm happy to change them all out.

Not looking to do headlights, i have osram nightbreakers and i'm happy with those. 

 

I've had a dig this afternoon, looking for other people who have done it. Found nothing polo specific, which doesn't surprise me, very little on just changing indicators alone. The most common thing i found was not to buy cheap ones.
