6n1 revs and stroke problem

Featured Replies

hello i need a advice / idea for a revs problem. When I press the accelerator pedal at neutral up to 4000 rpm and quick release it the rpm`s drop to 1100/900 and there is some kind of shock / stroke / vibration i can feel that coming from the distributor area.

Welcome to the Forum.

What you say about the engine speed (RPM) sounds about normal.

Providing that it keeps to an even idle speed, there probably isn't much to worry about.

It is a little difficult to decide what the distributor problem might be, but it might pay to remove the distributor cap and check that the tip of the rotor arm is NOT making contact with the cap segments. This can only happen if the distributor bearings are badly worn OR the wrong rotor arm or cap have been fitted. A damaged (bent) rotor shaft could possibly also cause them to contact, but I would think this is extremely likely to happen due to normal wear.

Regards.
