Correct service components

Featured Replies

Hi all,

First off, apologies if this is posted in the incorrect section. New to the forum but have lurked for about a month after recently purchasing my 1986 Mk2 breadvan and have found that the knowledge here is great, so I thought I would register. I’m not overly mechanically minded but I want to learn and I have managed to do some car mechanics to other vehicles I own.

I’ve looked over the service history for the car and I’ve discovered a gap from 2016 until now. As a result, I’d like to give it a service where I at least change the oil, oil filter and fuel filter. I noticed that the fuel filter has bubbles in it which I’m not sure is normal and the oil filter is rusty.

I’ve purchased Mann filters from ECP, but I’m not sure they’re correct (Oil filter is W719/5 and fuel filter is WK 32 (10)). They do look different to the ones currently on the car. If anyone could confirm if these are sufficient or could confirm the correct parts/part numbers that would be most appreciated.

Many thanks.

Thanks, Steve. That has given me some confidence in my decision.

can I ask what parts you use? I understand that the OEM oil filter is 056115561G. Would you recommend getting one of these for next time? Though surely a filter is a filter. As long as it fits I guess it does the job?

I don't know if anyone else has had issues with airfilters? Even back in the day when I dailyed my Mk2 (when they were common) I was constantly given the bigger filter!

best note down the part numbers when you get the right ones and reorder the same
