2013 VW Polo Match 1.2 TDI - Ignition Starter Fault

Featured Replies

Hi, just looking for a bit of advice.

Came back to my car after it’d been parked up for about 20 minutes, and it wouldn’t start. Doesn’t even attempt to turn over.

I’ve had the starter motor replaced, but it still doesn’t start. Fault code reader states Ignition Starter Switch Fault 03444. Has anyone had this before, or know where I should be checking first?

Does the dashboard light up?

Will it push start?

Check the wiring to the solenoid. On the older cars, it was just a single spindly wire with a spade connector on, so prone to damage.

I did the same thing a few years ago on my Ibiza, replaced the starter (£180?)....  no fix..... 6 inch of wire and a couple of crimp connectors..... worked perfectly 🙄
