Hi all,

my power steering randomly cut out (luckily while just pulling up next to my house)

no dash warning lights
no fault codes when scanned
fuses are okay
battery running at 12.2v when off
battery running at 14v when running
fluid level is good
no leaks

does anyone have any suggestions?
also does anyone know if it is possible to test the power steering pump if I take it off the car?

What year is the car and which fuses have you checked?

What did you use to scan it for fault codes ? as a generic obdll scanner probably wouldn't detect anything, you need to use a VAG specific reader preferably VCDS

apologies that would have helped. its a 2008 1.4tdi polo 9N3 

 

I have checked the strip fuses ontop of the battery (no3 is the pas pump on mine) and also blade fuse number 7 in the main fuse box next to the steering wheel.

I have tried two different readers, one an autel VAG reader and also VCDS lite by rosstech on my laptop. 

 

Have a look at strip fuse no. 5 too, I think it may be that one?

checked and unfortunately all good 😞 would have been a nice easy fix though!

Was it an autoscan you did with VCDS, or did you specifically look at module 44 for fault codes?

Does your version of Lite allow you to look at measuring blocks within that module? (not sure if that's only available to registered versions).
