Hello all.

 

I have VCDS lite and a typical eBay cable which has worked fine on a golf MK4, Fabia MK1 and a Felicia but it refuses to pick my GT ECU, which I'm lead to believe it should?

I just get an error message saying port ok, interface not found.

Does anyone know of any special settings I need to input for setup? 

My version of VCDS doesn't list polo 86c's in the list of cars in the OBD2 scan section either, is there a different version for them?

Ignition is on too

It's worth checking that your obd ports have power, either with a multimeter or plugging a generic code reader in. I'm not sure if vcds lite does 2f's though, as they  pre-date OBD2. 

Thanks for getting back. Ah ok I just read old posts and got the impression I could but I have no idea to be honest. I've searched all over but can't find specifics.

I got 12.5v on the black plug and 9.2v on the brownish plug, do they sound like good numbers?

If so I think I'll just go with the code reader idea, seen a few makes people recommend in other posts.

if you trace it back its just piggybacked to the interior light for 12v+/-   and a yellow k line to the ecu

 

vcds is better than a cheap reader as you can view a few bits of live data
