I have a 9N 1.4 Sport 2004. I put some carb cleaner down the throttle body as per instructions on the can and since then when you turn ignition to start the engine revs to 2000rpm momentarily. Does it with hot or cold engine. Car runs fine and idle is normal. It’s just really annoying and didn’t do it before cleaning the carb. Any ideas most appreciated.

Do you have VCDS, or know anyone local who does?

Adapting the engine ECU to the TB's new state of cleanliness might be all that's required.

Leaving it idling for 15 minutes might have the same effect, if you're lucky.

Will probably go away on its own given time though. How much did you spray in?

 

The whole can! It also destroyed the O2 sensor which I had to replace. Don’t have the vcds so I guess trip to local garage.
