POLO III door issue with the key.

Featured Replies

Help Please!

I have already changed the locking cylinder in my girlfriend's POLO III (6N1 locking mechanism), but even with the new cilinder I am unable to close the door with key. If I turn the key nothing happens. The dead lock button dos not make any movement. And I do not feel any resistance when I try to lock the car with the key. There is a small plastic "knob" inside the mechanism just after the key cilinder, maybe it is broken as well?  Any idea? And when I move the deadlock button connecting rod I hear some kind of clicking/ strange noise.

Thank u for your help!

The linkage is a bit fragile, it's basically the same as a Golf and a lot of other VAG cars of the same age. If you have a look on youtube for something like "Golf door lock repair", you'll come across some decent videos that will make more sense than explaining it in a message.

I mean i have replaced the link between the key cilinder and the locking mechanism. But i still can’t lock the door with key. So maybe something wrong inside?
After the key the link fits into a plastic hole on the locking mechanism. (If you remove the door handle you can see this little white plastic on the mechanism). And that plastic hole continues in a knob (inside) which operates the dead lock (maybe). But if i turn the key it does not have enogh force to moves that knob and operates the lock.  Otherwise I try to find a youtube video. Thanks

The micro switches in the lock mechanism are a common fail item, you can replace them but it's easier to get a new mechanism
