MK4 OSF Electric Window Motor

Featured Replies

Hi

new to the forum so if this question has been asked already I apologise, I have some issues with the electric windows and central locking on my 5 door mk4 1.8gti. The key on the drivers side is pretty much shot so I have been putting the eratic operation of the locking down to that, I have bought a repair kit which I am yet to fit (all advice welcome). The main thing is the windows though they have all stopped working now after a period of unreliability, the only way I can all but the drivers window to work is to disconnect the battery and once reconnected they work for a very short period. From looking at other forums I am guessing the drivers side motor or controller, which is part number 6Y1959801A I cant find one online but can find a 6Y1959801 which also says should fit my car, can anybody confirm that or recommend an alternative.

Cheers

The number without the suffix A will only work for cars with non-electric rear windows.   May I humbly suggest you have a read of my repair service thread in the Entrepreneur Traders section https://www.clubpolo.co.uk/topic/359234-window-motor-repair-service/. I don't currently have an exchange unit for your part number so it would have to be a repair of yours if you were interested.
