I've recently bought a 52 reg VW Polo for my first car, which I believe to be a MK4? (I could be wrong).

When I bought the car, it had parking sensors built in. I've come to realise that the parking sensors don't work as they aren't plugged in to anything, they're just installed. From what I can see, they're all installed correctly, and even attached to the reverse light for power, so am I right in assuming that I can just order a set of parking sensors and use the control box and buzzer from them? For example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B074P4M9N6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Another question is, I was wanting to have a button on the dash to turn the sensors on/off, but I don't know how to remove these button placeholders, where to find the correct button, and how to wire this up. The picture is of the button placeholders, I'm not entirely sure I'm calling them the right thing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could just fit that Amazon link complete, as you can't mix and match sensors with different control units as they are normally matched.

Those switch blanks should just pop out with a trim tool

The power normally goes to the control box, so I'm a bit surprised they're plugged in but not working. It might be worth having another look where the sensors are wired back to, I'd imagine the kit's there, just not getting power. You don't normally need a separate switch because the system gets it's power off the reverse light, so just turns on and off with it.

Does your reverse light work?
