AAV to 3F Induction/Fuel Injection Conversion

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have acquired a 3F (GT) inlet manifold with rail and injectors, the airbox with MAF, and ECU all for free. I'm looking into what else I'm going to need to convert my SPI system on my AAV, to the MPI system from the 3F. Any help will be appreciated. I know I need an engine loom if anyone has a GT loom for sale, I'm guessing I need a flange that goes on top of the throttle body. But I'm not so sure, if anyone has any diagrams also that would be very helpful!

Thanks 🤟🏻

Ah okay mate. Its a 2F coupe, I already have an electronic fuel pump so I'd assume that's run through a relay as standard somewhere along the line, and I assume the same for my existing ECU? Correct me if I am wrong. Okqy dude let me know when you're back, I'm also away this week

i think at least the ecu relay is unique to gt and g40.....theyre hard to find but you can re wire it to use a later mk3 golf relay thats easily avail

also need the gt /g40 coolant flange and distributor

another option would be fit the inlet with inj and get a speeduino ecu and have your own mappable ecu - sell the other gt bits to recoup some money , but thats a fairly advanced job

trouble is you could search for all this gt stuff and its faulty , i did much the same to mine and struggled to get it running well due to 30 year old parts being duff

Okay mate thanks for the help! I mean in an ideal world, I'll find a complete GT lump and I can just swap the whole lot over

I kind of want to keep it period but modified, kind of how my parents generation were playing with engines in their day, ported heads, higher lift cams etc etc. I'm not looking for blistering power, just a bit more fun is all 😊

yeah its nice to tinker although the costs soon mount up

mine is 1400 , gt injection with aftermarket ecu and cam ...wish i had gone 1600 now
