9N clutch/gear problem

Featured Replies

Forgive my poor English.

Clutch was always low on my 9N 2002, but now I'm having problems moving the gear shift into any gear in the first minutes of using the car. I started leaving it in first overnight so that I don't have to force it in the morning, but what happens is when I start the engine, with the clutch floored, the car starts moving. This and often I get to smell burned clutch plate, which leads me to believe it doesn't disengage completely.

What can I do, any advice?

You don't need any special tools - My preferred way is check the brake/clutch fluid is properly topped up, put a pipe on the bleed nipple / screw and run it into a container so you don't make a mess. Pump the clutch pedal firmly about 10 times or more. Open the bleed nipple, pump the pedal a few more times, then hold it down while someone tightens the bleed nipple. Check the brake/clutch fluid is still at a good level and put the cap back on.
