Can anyone hep with this? My 1998 Polo driver's door stopped closing. The latch in the locking mechanism is just open and won't click closed even if I move it by hand. So basically, I can't even close the door, let alone lock it. I have repaired the handle and paddle, which did need doing but the latch still doesn't work. Is there a way to repair this or is is case of replacing the whole locking mechanism?

On a guess, it probably just wants cleaning and lubricating. Can you make the latch close if you work the mechanism with a big screwdriver?
