Mk2f Polo Build thread

Featured Replies

So i bought this car, saw it once on ebay. Rolled it backwards and forwards (in gear) said yep ill take it XD

Drove it home, parked it up and waited for all the documents to catch me up.

later took it for a bath and started to dig around and find out what was what.

someone had taken the areal out of the wing, but not plugged the hole causing water to get in and rust the bottom of the wing, this started to spread into the passanger door but wasnt too bad and farily easiy to rub back and get rid off during paint prep.

the exhuast fell off, the breaks were rusty and the car was all round rattley and banged up. MOT wasnt too bad tho, bearing and a handbreak to sort so nothing crazy.

gave her a quick service, oil breaks etc and just started to have fun.

Realising very quickly the 1.0 4spd was rather, lacking shall we say. i made plans to "beef things up" while i probably did this in the wrong order, i got this idea in my head and started planning supporting modifications and getting the engine together :D

Keen as always.

New steering wheel

managed to salvage a cage (tho this would take quite some time for me to actaully fit XD - the feet were not supplied so i had to get inventive...)

found some seats in the back of an old carpet shop

even salvaged an engine

i then proceeded to buy my body weight in rattle cans (this was going to be my method of paint seeing as thats what the previous owner did and it would surely cost too much to get it done right...)

also found some lovely tear drops for her - didnt want to stick around on 13's as it was just far too low for england

plenty, plenty of googling now, hunting and searching... i've never done anything like this before and i dont personally know anyone who has either, i have some friends who are very farmiliar with the 20v swaps in your mk1/2/3 golfs etc but never polo wise.

so i hunt around and just start doing, learning on the job if you will.

i started stripping the engine and sending parts off to be machined (only so much i can do in a shed that doesnt have power)

collected my battered wheels and sent them off for magic

So the time has come for me to start getting the bodywork sorted.

Luckily my friend owns a bodyshop so the actuall (paint on the car part) will be done by him. However, its all my prep :? so lets soo how good the paint turns out XD

sprussed up the old wheel and sold them on... unfortunatly the buyer tried to tell me i only sent 3....... always take photos of items being sent...

also got my new wheels back from the magic shop 😛 just need to paint them now :D

plenty of long evenings and weeks at the shop, lots of dust and black bogies
