That's definitely got potential. Enjoy it for what it is, don't bother trying to put a Golf engine in, it doesn't work and you'll wreck your shell trying. 

Not sure if we are looking at a GT? Badges say GT but the engine bay says something else. Doesn’t look like the GT I’ve got?

VW did 55bhp GT in some markets eg Spain

Looks like an SPI, maybe AAV engine? Definitely not MPI though, couldn't fit the rail under the ufo airbox.

In some markets, GT was a trim level.  So didn't have the 75hp 3F engine.
