Back Seat Release Handle/Lever

Featured Replies

Hi all

I seem to have broken the O/S plastic pull handle/lever that releases the back portion of the back seat so that it can lay flat. It can be found high on the back seat near to the parcel shelf. Does anybody know what the part number might be for this and where I might be able to find a replacement?

Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi,

Firstly, welcome to the forum.

Secondly, without knowing your car's exact spec and more details (or a photo) of exactly what's broken it's hard to say. That said I've a couple of suggestions:

The plastic 'toggle' on the top of the seat goes through a plate and attaches to a spring.

Toggle: 1H0 885 683

Plate: 1H0 885 747

Spring: 1H0 885 475

The next bits I'm a bit hazy on.

I think the hook that catches on the latch for the seat is 1H0 885 471/2 (left/right) held in with a rivet 1H0 885 744

Hope something of the above helps.

I've also attached a diagram.

Toggle = 7

Plate = 10

Spring = 3

Catch = 2

Rivet = 9

Hello

Thank you so much for your detailed response. I'm so very grateful to you for taking the time to write with all that info. Consequently I am very sorry that I didn't include pictures in my first post as I feel I may have wasted your time? 😐

I have now attached a couple of photos in the hope this helps. The car has an '04 plate.

Thank you once again.

Best wishes.

The broken one being on the offside....

Hey,

Not to worry, your car is what would be referred to on this forum as a Mk6 (See Here: https://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/207-polos/) (The VW Model designation being 9N).

You are right, my advice above is about as useful to you as a chocolate fireguard. My knowledge is limited to 6N Polos I'm afraid but you will probably find someone else here significantly more knowledgeable than I.

This post may help you, it has part numbers and photos.

If VW can't get you the part eBay probably can.

Hope this helps.

P.S. You may find more help in the forum if you include your model designation (9N) in future post titles as people immediately know if they might be able to help.
