Hi, new member here, with a much neglected 2001 6N2 Polo. This has started giving the (not uncommon I gather) low coolant warning on the dash, the flashing red thermometer. Nothing wrong with the cooling system, new expansion tank with clean "dippers" fitted, which hasn't fixed it.

 

However...got a resistance of about 200ohms between the coolant sensor brown/white lead on the connector and battery -ve (or cylinder head), which is a bit ridiculous. Does anyone know where this wire is actually earthed? Looking at Haynes, seems to go to a common earthing point shared by the fuel gauge and coolant temp sensor, but gives no indication of where this physically is.

Should mention the engine's a 1.4 AKK.

Right, ignore the above. Misread my wiring diagram. The sensor doesn't appear to be earthed anywhere, just a wiring union/junction with the fuel sender etc that goes off to the dash unit.
