My rear wiper not wiping in the middle (2002 9n Polo)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've been having this issue for quite some time now, but since the last heavy rain fall it's just gone worse. The rear wiper doesn't even touch anymore the central part of the rear window and it's really annoying (picture). The wiper is also not aligned anymore (picture) and already goes off the window (on the metal) on the other side. The wiper blade is fine because I changed it 1 year ago, there's just not any pressure on the window. Should I replace the whole thing (https://www.autodoc.si/ridex/15784318 - this?) or is it possible to repair it somehow? Thanks for all the answers in advance, guys!

I have the same problem so I hope someone has a fix.

Fitted new genuine wiper arm and blade without anything more than a very temporary improvement.

I might just have found the solution to this.

It looks like this:

The non-aero 'old style' wiper arm/blade/nut cover combo.

Only been fitted for a week or so, but so far it is working perfectly.

Arm is part number 6Q6955707, blade is 6Q6955425 and nut cover is 7M3955435 01C. Arm is no longer available (I grabbed a NOS one off ebay) but the other bits are. Must be loads of secondhand arms available from older 9Ns.

Might be worth waiting a few weeks just to make sure my improvement isn't temporary, if you might be tempted to follow suit and acquire same bits. It feels logical to me that this style/construction will have more ability to conform to the curvature of the screen.
