DIY paint/clear coat 9n3

Featured Replies

Guys ,polo 9n3 here, no indoor garage, and want to know from the photos someone to tell me if the paint is worn off or just the clear coat. Auto body technician says he must paint the whole car and asks for a fortune. I am thinking about DIY.Can you tell me if 1)the paint is worn off or only the clear coat  2)it can be saved only with clear coat in case its a bit of paint worn off . I will upload more pictures on the next post, cause i cant post photos more than 2mb.Thank you in advance!

Depends how good you want it to be at the end and how much you're looking to spend or do yourself. I'd have thought most painters would be fairly happy with painting up to the channels in the roof, but silver fades really unevenly, so I can imagine a painter would want to do more to cover himself.

Personally, I'm a bit of a fatalist, I'd flat it until I got something half decent, then as long as I haven't hit primer, I'd get a clearcoat chucked on it, or if it was too far gone, see about putting a vinyl over it.
