Hello! I have a 1996 Polo 6n with the 1.6l AEE, the last 6 months I've noticed blue/gray smoke coming from the exhaust, however this happens only when the engine is fully warmed up and only smokes when i accelerate hard and when im stuck in a traffic light and start in first gear. I add around 1l of oil every 2000 km and the oil i use is 10w40. From what I've searched it looks like it's valve stem seals but im not 100% sure, the car also accelerates like it always used to and starts without an issue hot or cold and the pcv valve was replaced, what do you guys think it's causing this?

Blue smoke when set off after idling, yes sounds like stem seals.

 

Doing a dry then wet compression test with well charged battery would confirm valves and rings in good state.

If an AEE is 9.8:1 compression ratio, I'd hope to see 166 psi (11.5bar) on the gauge by CR*17 rule of thumb.
