Hello! (Previous 6n / 6k)

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

I have recently returned to the forum as I am peak midlife crisis and fancy another 6n! There isn’t that many for sale (within reasonable distance) and the ones that are, are either absolute sheds or quite pricey.

I had a 6n about 16 years ago which eventually died and then bought a 6k classic saloon which must have been about 13 years ago.

As a side note, I was told that my 6k classic was brought back from the dead from the scrap yard in South Wales and later had its engine converted (possible 1.8t?). Anyone know the whereabouts? Reg was P495 UTG and was a dark grey colour. DVLA says it’s currently SORN.

Cheers

James

I don't know if it tells you any more than what you know already, but a did a quick search on the reg number you gave for the saloon, and it shows the last v5c being issued in Sept 2019.

Thanks for the replies. Regarding the saloon, yeah I did see that it changed ownership in 2019. I got rid of it in 2017, so assume the conversion took place and then sold it on. My friend told me he previously seen it on a forum (assumingly a build thread) but couldn't remember where he seen it!

I am now officially back in the VW scene. Picked up a 6n 16v in black (funnily enough, the link that was posted by Dean above)! Needs some work i.e. oil leak and hunts for revs now and again, but it's pure nostalgia and takes me back to when I first passed my driving test some 16 years ago!

My first car was a Dragon Green 6n 1.4CL. Ended on having a Black 6n 16v... I've been on the look out for one to relive the joys of passing my test. But, other things come first!

Enjoy the 16v!

The exact reason I wanted one!

Cheers mate. Started to leak oil, crunching in 1st and reverse and it hunts for revs when idling, which is impacting the drive (I.e when driving in my street in 2nd gear at about 1500 rpm it rocks back and forth, almost like a hesitation). Not ideal as I paid above for it, but I suppose it is 26 years old!

Crunching in first gear... I went through 4 boxes... That's why I gave up on them.

Box might be on its way out, but let's hope that's not the case.

I remember on mine the revs used to hunt, and that was after I forced the throttle butterfly open. Only a new one would've solved the issue.

Hopefully, it's just silly things that can be fixed.

Hi all. Brand new to the forum.

Bought my daughter a 2022 1.0l Life DSG Polo and collecting it from Manchester on Sunday to drive back to Sunderland.

Any idea what MPG I am likely to get.

I drive the Audi Q4 Etron so am not used to petrol lol.

Great forum BTW.

Anything I need to look out for on a 22 plate car with 24k miles?

TIA
