Newbie needs some help, please...

Featured Replies

Hi guys

newbie here and first post so please go easy on me! 🤣

I recently bought a 1999 Polo 1.4, mainly so we could get our daughter insured on a vehicle as her first car.

Done quite a lot to the car recently, which only had 80,000 miles on the car. She's having a full service next week and having a very minor oil leak sorted, plus a new MAP sensor, too.

One thing that I do want to do is to find a new/used replacement motor for the (drivers) electric windows, and a new twin window switch for the (drivers) door - however, no matter how many times I ring VW to find out the correct part number and to see if they have the parts (which I don't due to the cars age), I can't get them on the flippin' phone!

Any idea on an on-line resource for me to stick in my reg or VIN to be able to track down the correct part numbers, please.

Thanks all. 😍

This is a good site to get any part numbers I’ve linked it too your 1999 model https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/vw/RDW/PO/158 just click on the Electronic section and you’ll find the window motors and the door switches

Hi Nige and thank you SSSSOOO much for that. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but still cant find it on there. Looked in electrics and cant see either part; looked at Bodywork and can see the motor in one of the diagrams but its not listed as a part.

Will have another look later. 👍

Really appreciate the help m8

Just a thought 1999 is around the time that they updated the model are the window switches in the centre console area or the door trim ? If they are in the door trim then you have a 6N2 so will need to search in the 2000 year section and that is also chassis number dependant

Just WOW!! Thank you so much - that is just brilliant.

May I ask one more question...?? From earlier attempts at buying parts for this car, they seem in short supply. If you were me - where would you go to try and get these...?? I'm happy to buy 2nd hand/refurnished, too. Thanks

I’ve used these guys many times always seem to have good stock levels and decent prices https://www.stevensvwspares.com/

On that LLParts site if they list a price then normally they either have it in stock or can order them only downside is they aren’t very quick in despatching anything

www.autodoc.co.uk is also a good source of spares

Then there’s always eBay
