Hi All,

My VW Polo 1.4 twist 2004 petrol has sadly failed it’s MOT for the following reason:

Brake Servo defective or ineffective (Servo pipe split)

Unfortunately my garage is unable to source a new replacement part and suggested sourcing a used part via eBay or a scrap yard.

However those need a part number to confirm it is the correct part. Does anyone happen to know the part number as I’m unable locate it?

Any help or advice would be really appreciated otherwise I will no longer be able to use the car in a few weeks and it’s been a great car which I want to keep on the road.

Part number is likely to be printed along the sections of hard plastic pipe.

Whereabouts are you based?

Temporary repair with self-amalgamating tape may be an option.

Would need a little more car/engine info to be able to look up part number. Reg or VIN, or if shy about those, auto or manual gearbox would probably be enough.

Actually, if manual, would also need to know engine output 75 or 100 bhp?

I live in the York area. The garage didn’t make reference to a temporary repair so might be an alternative option and not provided a part number after asking. Any recommended garages in York?

The registration is MJ04 ZVD. It is a manual gear box and the engine output appears to be 74 BHP based on a registration check.

If anyone is to determine part number for the Brake Servo Pipe it would be really appreciated.

Part number for this car is 6Q2 612 041AJ.

Unfortunately VW dropped that from supply in Sept of last year, so unlikely to find new.

Be aware that the suffix letters (AJ in this case) are the only difference between all of the RHD variations of this part, so don't assume any other pair of suffix letters is OK instead. Watch out for search engine results where there is such a mismatch.

Hello mini mee,I had a similar problem a few years ago & found these pipes as rare as hens teeth,I found a good wrap with tape(i used electrical) & a length of electrical heat shrink for good measure works perfectly,no leaks & the car has had no issues passing it's mot
