Sunroof Wiring Diagram.

Featured Replies

Hello everyone! I got a 99 Polo 6n with manual sunroof. I'd like to change it with 6n2's electric sunroof. I got the motor but I don't have wiring diagrams. I got 6n's Haynes, but I need 6n2's. Can anyone share the sunroof wiring diagram page from Polo 6n2's Haynes? I'm also open for suggestions.

Thank you.

There are 6 pins on the motor. But I guess 4 pins are in use.

1) Brown - Earth

2) ???

3) ???

4) Red - 12v

I need to connect this two pins. All of the manuals on the internet says 2-3 is coming from something like central lock comfort unit. But 6n doesn't have such thing. What should I do? Which electric line should I use instead of those missing ones?

First welcome to the forum you have posted this in the wrong section of the forum ill see if one of the mods will move it to the correct section

Pin 1 is a live (30) 12v supply via a 25 amp fuse

Pin 2 is an ignition (15) 12v supply yellow/black wire via a 7.5amp fuse

Pin 3 red/brown wire is only used if you have central locking so that the roof will close when you lock the car but your 6N1 window motor doesn’t have the connection

Pin 4 Brown wire is the ground

The other 6 pin connector on the motor goes to the switch unit

Firstly thank you so very much. That really helped a lot. 🙂

Can i use the lines of the radio? Or what happens if I connect both 12v to the same line? For example can i use the horn's fuse? So that motor won't work without ignition as it supposed to be. Will that be a problem?

Under no circumstance use the radio or the horn supply as the ignition supply to the radio is only a low current supply and the 7.5amp required would burn out the S contact supply switch

Behind the fuse panel is the relay panel on that is a 10mm stud that is the live (30) supply (Thick RED wires) for the fuses connect your 25amp fuse supply to that and on the relay panel is the X contact relief relay tap into the outlet wire from that to connect to your 7.5amp supply

Thank you for detailed answer.

Firstly i tried to install 6n2 motor to my 6n frame. But ofcourse that didn't fit.

Then I started to search for other ways. Finally I found out that Polo 6n's sunroof is identically same with Golf 3 and Passat b4. So I installed an Golf 3 motor. And it fitted perfectly.

It's still in progress. But today, after 27 years my sunroof slided with electricity for the first time.

Thank you again. 🙂
