Driver's side electric window making a horrible sound

Featured Replies

Hello,

This is my first forum post. My 2010 Polo driver's side window doesn't work anymore. I pressed the electric window button and the motor made a horrible crunching sound. Window didn't budge up or down. Is this something I could try fix myself, help appreciated. Thanks 👍🏽

From your description, this will be a failure of the mechanicals that are driven by the window motor.

Not sure how easy to replace on a 2010 Polo, but YouTube probably has some resources that will be relevant.

"Window regulator" may be a useful description to search, along with 2010 Polo.

It's most likely the cables in the linkage starting to fray and snap, use it as little as possible until you've repaired it.

When you're buying a new one, there's normally the option to just buy the regulator by itself, or with it already attached to a new metal inner door card, the second sort it loads easier to fit.

This is why i only have cars with manual windows, you know when there is a problem before a failure occurs
