i realy want 2 make my car faster,iv only got a 1.2 6v 55bhp polo,is there any way of tunin it so its quite alot faster, with out havin an engine conversion. anything like chips, can u buy turbos for this car and what sort of prices r they? let me know some ways of tuning please thanks

No.......you might get it up to 60bhp, but unless you spend fuck loads nothing much will happen. buy a new car/engine.

what i meant by that was that, you might get a bit of extra power from an exhuast, chip, decent induction kit, maybe cams, but imo it wouldnt be worth it, you obvioudly didnt buy the car with performance as a priority so i'd just leave it, spend money on making it nice in other ways or sell it and buy something with more potential.

Finally someone with a slower polo than me.... I feel for you man, I have the 65 12v version, maybe you could swap the head to gain that extra power? I'm after some more oomph for mine, might try a jetex filter and a new exhaust then chip it up, should see possibly 75bhp if i'm lucky.

Hi, unfortuately I don't offer anything for the new Polo's. Have you looked into the new serial port remaps, such as Custom code, Revo and similar ?

will a remap do much for my car though? coz its standard i can look into it and c but i dont think it wil do alot, what do u think?

iv got the same car i put mine on a rollin road and its 61.77bhp 80torque at the wheels with induction kit and a full system from the cat back no center box

Its hard to say what a remap will give you. See if theres any companies that do it and ask them what gains they expect. I don't think there is going to be any cheap modifications that will give you much power. Like it was said above, they are not performance orientated engines so tuning them isn't going to be easy.

m8, i have the same car, as in the 55bhp one, and all i put in was a K&N, didnt do anything for bhp, maybe a slight increase in torque, but it sounds like a GT m8, let me know if you find any chips or anything.

finaly people who feel the same as me, i have a mk7 E55 and the engine is totaly standard but i am looking into making it faster but i also don't know whats good and whats not i know a good induction kit and full performance exhaust can help but a good exhaust system i was quoted 600 pounds which would of got me about 25-30 bhps but that is ofcorse too much money to spend on one thing not that i got that kind of money anyways, so I'm thinking for now just a good induction kit hopefully get me around 10 bhps give or take.

any advices please feel free.

iv got a induction kit and a full system matey and i got 6bhp :biggrin: i wish i got 30bhp you would need a turbo to get that power increase ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it does have a bit more pull in it now you can tell its got a bit more to give and iv had 105mph out of it

theres no way you will get 10bhp out of an induction kit, i have a k&n and it hasnt given me any bhp.just better throtle responce. get a new manifold,chop the cat out and put the sensors back in and a straight pipe to the back box, thats about all you can do with out spending stupid money

No it can't.

You would need to spend well over 1k to fit an Eaton.

1.9 GT's a diesel - not a great idea swapping petrol to a diesel.

1.8T is the best swap if you're going to do one. Loads of bits available now to make it a simple enough bolt in job, no need to make up custom parts as alot can be adapted from the mk7 GTI. Though I have been told that the mk7 GTI wheels are 5x112, don't know if its true or not though.

105? sorry for the late reply kind of forgot about this thread, i have done 117 with my standard engine and i think i could of pushed it abit more but i just didn't wanna risk just in case. i think th eBMC kit is the best one to get for induction but i have read an article comparing induaction kits and yes you cna get upto 10 bhps form an induction kit.

Realistically the only way you're going to get any worthwhile gain in power without spending thousands or swapping the engine for a proper one is to fit Nitrous Oxide. I don't think VW were looking at aftermarket tunability when they lopped a cylinder off.

It will all help, a bit. But you got to look at the BHP per £ and think is it really worth it bearing in mind that it will still be a slow car even with an optimistic extra 20bhp. Factor in the increase in insurance premiums and it seems even less worthwhile.

They are great engines and great cars, but they were never meant to be remotely sporty let alone fast.

anyone know what the bhp is for the 1.4 16v 9n? i think I've seen it sumwhere at around 85 but my buddy says its bout 95.

any ideas?
