Try Ecar. I got 864quid, for first car at 17. its a 1.4 8v though. but its worth almost 3k.

I'm with hyperformance (02089393940) they were cheapest for me by miles, i was 21 when i started my own insurance but had just got 6 points for careless driving!! Prob be worth doing your pass plus asap after your test as thatl take a good chunk off the premium.

il try it, but i tried ecar earlier, and it was £800 on my mums with here no claimes on it. without it its ££££3000!!!!! thanks

try www.bell.co.uk. they're good for people with no no claims

you're never gonna get cheap insurance on a provisonal, especially on a 16v !!!

direct line under your mums/dads name. The let named drivers build up their own NCB on their parents policies.

Just dont crash otherwise they'll loose thier NCB along with you!

i put me as the main drive and my nan as second driver brought my insurance down by 600 quid

Limit the mileage

Kept in a garage over night

Have the car in your mum/dad's name and get them to insure it having you as a named driver.

Buy a car that is in a lower insurance group? :p

In all honesty it's gonna cost you, for a first car you'll be best sticking to groups 1-4

Try confused.com i did last june and although i didnt go with any of them it made me look at my exsisting insurance policy and change to volkswaggen insurance where they saved me £500.

Going on your perants insurance would be cheeper :-) But not in the long term as you are only helping their ncb not your own :crybaby: , after a year or so you may look else where only to find you have none ncb and still getting quoted over £2000.

Just like all new drivers you will be ripped off for the first couple of years providing you dont claim :smirk:

You would have to ask your perants insurance company what the deal is as the above happened to a freind of mine a few years ago and he'd wished he had just suffered on his own till he built up his own ncb.

As fabiavrs states above you are probably best sticking to lower groups for the first couple of years anyway as of the above and as it is highly likely you will bump your can just like me 3-4 times and meny others when they first start driving (i hope you dont bump or crash you car by the way).

its a valver. nuff said.

definately try brentacre, their proper cheap. I've been insured with them for the last 6 years! 01792650933

What do you excepect on that car!! your 17, get a slow car like everyone else!! the premium isnt really affected much by the value of the car, its the likelyhood of you crashing and killing sombody and the insurance company ahving to pay millions of pounds in compensation to the persons family. and at 17 in that car, the likelyhood of you crashing is very high, so either pay the big premiums or buy a different car.

add parents as named drivers, drop mileage, dont use for work etc

all the old tricks tbh!

www.elephant.co.uk

They always give decent quotes :-D

i very much doubt it will go lower.

16v is gonna be expensive as its the performance model. Best of getting something else and getting some NCB before you get one of those!

Number one rule of buying cars when your young is find out the insurance before you buy the car!!

To be fair, i think you should have looked at insuracne quotes BEFORE you bought the car.

this is why most new drivers have samller 1.2 8v cars or something alike.

When i first passed my test i paid £1200 for a years insurance on a Fiat Panda 1.2 and i am female.

so £2000 is probably ok to say u have a 1.4 16v and not even passed your test yet!

Id reccomend you go for the long grueling task of, moneysupermarket & confused.com and then phoning up the cheapest quote to see if they can get it down any further. Also add your mum or dad on to your policy prefably an older female with lots of driving experiance and the same surname as you, then you should see it fall.

Hope this helps

Its absolutley the first thing you should do!

Anyway, thats not what you want to hear right now....so... you could go on one of your parents insurance? My mum didnt have a car so i bought mine and put it in her name and i was a named driver on the insurance she took out on 'her car'.

My first car was a 1.0 Peugeot 106, and (your not gonna like this) was a brilliant car! Light and nippy round town, not so good up hills! I loved it. Its good to work up to a faster car, gets you used to driving.

If you want your own insurance the only thing to do is ring round every insurance company you can think off, they are all different, and their prices change daily! And add your parents on.

I know the feeling mate - i was tempted to say f*k the cost and get a mk2 golf gti or a focus 1.8 16v zetec, but then i found polo's... I'm 18 on a provisional, with the car in my dads name, me an me mum as named drivers (and she has 3 points) with a polo Gt. My best quote fully comp is £750. I am tempted to have one year of fun in the GT, then get something slower and build up my no claims. Confused.com is the shizz mcnizz hehe. BUt yeah depends if you want fun for your first year, or a year of no claims for more fun later... Your choice really!

not sure if u wanna put the effort in but, the DIA test will lower your premiums far more than the pass plus.. it costs £50 to do, and u will need to do lessons to pass... though u could do pass plus first and use the experience from this to have a go at the DIA

my mate has just bout a vts i no its not a polo but he ant pasted his test yet but his insureance is only 1200 fully comp from adrmiral!!!
