Hi There Mak,

Here is a bit of reading about Ecarinsurance so you can make your own mind up about them.

I Wasn't convinced by this site so have sent some emails, they'll explain my meaning..

this one is the Financial Services Compensation Scheme(FSCS)

Hello

I am considering purchasing car insurance from an online company called ecar insurance. They claim they are registered with the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), and your site indicates I can check this at the FSA register. I have done so but they are not listed. I have also tried the name of their parent company (based in Gibraltar) but that doesn't come up either, perhaps because of a lack of postcode.

Does this mean they are not members? Or am I missing something?

I'm a little concerned that as they are registered in Gibraltar this may

affect any future claim I may need to make.

Can you help me with any further information?

Many thanks

and this one is to ecar insurance themselves

Hello

I am interested in using your service, your prices seem very copmpetative.

I have checked to see if your company 'ecar insurance' is registered with

the FSA Register at http://www.fsa.gov.uk/register/ and it is not.

In the letter from your MD on your website 'About eCar' he claims that

Southern Rock (parent comapny) is a member of the Financial Services

Compensation Scheme (FSCS), and it may well be. However, following the

link to http://www.fscs.org.uk/consumer/FAQs/ it leads you to the register

at the FSA and I cannot find either company name listed there.

I also note your company is registered in Gibraltar - does this affect

your liability and cover.

I would appreciate your feedback/comments.

Regards

got a email back from ecarinsurance, and i'm still not convinced.

Now as far as i can tell that first statement is just a lie, i have searched the FSA site and cannot find any reference to ecar or Southern Rock Insurance which they are apparently a part of.

the second link however does check out but again nowhere mentions ecar.

I have got a couple of weeks till i need to renew my insurance so trying to get to bottom of this before then cause it is cheap!! I'll wait and see what the FSCS have to say about it.

I know a few people that are insured by Ecar insurance, aparently they send out a nice wallet to keep all your documents in and they do seem legit. but at the end of the day i do not know anyone who has had to claim through the company so do not no what they are like in that sence.

Hope this helps you out a little bit, or maybe just confuse you even more?? :?

Hol

I'm currently with ecar insurance, haven't really dealt with them before. I do know out of 50 different companies, they were the cheapest by far.

Nick

Cheapest isnt always the best guys.

always best when shopping around to look in to details of the company.

Like TimW said, you get southern rock insurance under those links.

Ok the adresses are different, but both are in Gibraltar...?

Dunno guys?

Admiral are based in Gib, maybe less taxes.

All major finacial companies are moving abroad now, banks, insurance brokers, stock brokers etc... Its called "offshoring" its more cheaper, cheaper buildings and office's and office workers. My bank Abbey i think the main offices are in india now.
