Model: 1985 polo coupe "boulevard"

Engine: 1272cc HK, currently at 72,000 miles. Poole spec "A" headwork consisting of smoothing and flow optimisations to inlet and exhaust ports, valve throat enlarging and re-profiling, creation of larger combustion chamber. larger german GK inlet manifold mated to weber 28/32 dmtl carb, air inlet heater reduced to a flat disk, ashely 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, conversion to electronic ignition using saab 900 distributor, cavalier coil and ignition amplifier, beru ignition leads.

Transmission: close ratio 4 speed "GX" new reconditioned.

Suspension: standard springs, front oil filled dampers replaced with KYB gas inserts, rears using brand new boge shock absorbers from VW. polyurethane control arm bushes and anti roll bar bushes up front.

Brakes: standard 236mm solids disk, drums at rear.

Wheels and Tyres: 13inch steel wheels with "boulevard" white wheel trims and centre caps

Exterior Styling: boulevard stying pack, colour-coded bumpers, wheel-arch extensions, hubcaps and front/rear spoilers

Interior Styling: velour carpeting, tinted glass, sports steering wheel and height adjustable driver's seat, colour coded vinyl door cards, ranger/parade front seats and rear bench

ICE and Security: standard 1985 blaupunkt cassette head unit and mono speaker in the dash (lol)

Performance: 73bhp@5795, 76lbft@3816, acceleration not recorded to date, but estimated at 0-60 11seconds, top speed 103mph

Comments: i bought this polo by pure chance in 2004. my old cavalier runarond would not have passed another MOT so i went looking for a replacement. my dads friend runs an MOT station and sells a few cars per year as a side line. when quizzed he told me he had a volvo 360, renault 19 energy and "an old polo" round the back of the yard. I've got to be honest i wasnt particularly bowled over by any of that list. i turned up to check the cars out anyway and in the corner was this perfect little white mk2 coupe. 2 lady owners, 58,000 genuine miles and a years MOT. it was amazing, like a little 80's time capsule. there was no conest or thought process, just pure impulse, i bought it.

future plans, now that I've breathed life into the 20 year old engine, i will try and restore the paintwork too. it is in astonishing condition for its age, but is far from flawless. also plan to upgrade the front brakes using mk1 golf gti 236mm vented disks and vwII calipers.
