Declaring mods to insurance

Featured Replies

I've got a form from Quinn direct which has to be filled in by one of the following parties to allow my suspension to be declared.

1. Main dealer

2. Member of the Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessor

3. SIMI Approved Garage

4. DOE Test centre

I'm familiar with number 1.... but what are the rest of these ?? will my local garage be "SIMI" approved or is it an irish thing ?

you're declaring?

Well on the basis it will void most insurance policies if you don't declare mods, then i'd guess he is yes.

It's a weird one really, i had to tell Adrian Flux about my mods, but seeing as i didnt do any of them and have no recepits...i just had to leave the info blank.

Did you have the susp fitted or previous owner?

i fitted it (with the help of the local garage) on the weekend. i was hoping i could just take the form to the garage n get him to sign it off ??

Cant say I've never seen that before. Mine current insurer just say keep the reciepts. I would phone them and ask them what they all mean, failing that pop along to the garage and see what they have to say.

It might just be so they know that it's not some half c*cked job by a spotty oik that has fitted it them selfs (not saying your one)

Hi there, really sorry to bump up an ancient topic, but I have got my best quote on a polo 1.4 16v from quinn direct and was intending on lowering my polo. So I was just wondering how much extra they asked you for any modifications?

Any answers will be appreciated

Cheers

AlexG

quinn said lowering my car wont make any difference. i am 3rd party though

That form cost me 80pound to get done from vw maindealer to say all the mods were safe ect, :(

but it came back fooking puka.

quinn is the way forward, were only 400pound on the 8v and 500 on the valver :)

i had to get this done m8. :)

i just gave it to my m8 who works at landrover he just ticked all box's and got it stamped at main dealer. and i sent it them and rung them and they said it was all fine

My insurance company say I can do what I want to my car aslong as I don't go over a certain amount of BHP. Only condition is that I have to let them know what I do after I've done it. But my premium won't be increased.

Who you with heartagram? need to renew my insurance on my valver soon.
