Pay As You Drive Insurance

Featured Replies

If I didn't drive at night this could have been really good. I would have thought peak times around 9am-5pm would have been more dangerous. I guess they are just trying to stop people aimlessly driving around at night time...especially young people!

Guess you could defeat the speed thing like people tried with specs cameras - slow down for a bit after your speeding moment to compensate. On second thoughts nah fk them and their stupid PAYD. You are seen on an average of 300 cctv cameras every day #(unless you live in a field) and can be tracked anywhere by a mobile phone signal, as well as being filmed by satellitesonce your location is known. this is how terror training camps are found out in the desert, they are recorded by satellites which beam real-time images to earth!

For me i would prefer to avoid Orwell's society, blair's idea of the ID card scheme was the closest we've come to it. Motorola have developed a chip which can be implanted in the skin, and used as a combined tracking device, credit card and ID card simply by scanning it. However it will be implanted in such a way that if it is removed a small capsule is broken and chemicals are released into the bloodstream, making it irremovable.

If you dont believe me google 'Verichip', it is believed that these will be more common than mobile phones within ten years.

I just hope they will be more of a flop than minidiscs were!

Sorry to hijack the thread lol!

the world as we know it is comeing to an end,..and for the sake of keeping what little privacy we have at the moment I'm willing to pay the thousands pounds it costs for insurance,..I'm only 20 and I'm still yet to own a decent sports car,..with hybrids and all this pay as you drive they can go f£%* themselves i want my fun and i want my privacy! no one is forceing me into being an extra from a sci-fi film

What if you had a emergency and a family member needed your company in a hospital 100 miles away?

Would you say "no sorry i cannot drive now as it'll cost me £1 a mile, i'll be there in the morning"

or " ill be there asap" and pay the £200 insurance bill for a 100 mile each way journey?

I pay £1450 Fully Comp on my 140Bhp GT40 Conversion with all mods declared at 20 - now if i dont claim - next year I'm hoping for less than a grand...

If not I'm selling up - modded car game aint cheap - and i am getting bored of being able to thrash nearly every barry that tries their luck...

well hopefully that wont happen, as i dont have any family that live 100 miles away.

but if it came down to it i would drive it. as at the end of the day some months i pay £0 as i do not rive my car anywhere, so it would all even out.

plus i would stay at the hopital til after 6am then it would only be 3p a mile

well that was a waste of time! Filled in the online form to be told you have to call us.

To be fair it wont save me money as they dont insure a mod'd car.

Bummer! well i am screwed when i get a polo then arnt i?? have to leave it standard till October OH NO!!!

this is my second year on PAYD and i didnt know they didnt insure mods!!!

No chance of me buying a modded polo now then... standard it will have to be.... unless i call them and see what they say?

i rang them up other week and told them i would be buying a polo 1.4 16v insurance group 10 (my current car is insurance group 2) and they told me because i am not 21 they wouldnt inusure me. so i kicked off cause i have been driving 3 years i will turn 21 laster on during the policy and i have been with them for 2 years!! and the guy came back and said 'yeh ok we will sort it out for you' so that just proved to me, complaining does get you places... sometimes :-)

Should be good for people with 2nd cars, but I've heard that only cars less than 10 years old can go on this scheme, rules mine out and a lot of others I suspect

I gave up when it was asking stupid questions like

"how many times do you visit your friends a year"

"how many football matches do you attend"

No point in you buying a car at all really you only do 3k a year and some months you dont use it all. What was the point in passing your test and getting a car on finance? Stick to your feet, thats cheaper still.

useless for me koz those are the hours I'm out at most

I got the car on finance when i first passed my test 3 years ago and i used to dirve to work and back everyday. i have moved right near my owrk now so i walk to work. the car on finance is going back in January once i have found a new car to buy.

the only reason i really need a car is to go see my dad who lives 22 miles away. if i didnt do that thn i could live without a car!
