ryt people this is a emergancy i think iam being tort the wrong way to do my monvers with ma test very soon i need to find out the right way how to do em and learn it the right way so can you lot help me ?????

iam stuck on reverse round a cournor and paraelle park because my instructer says i should do half a turn on the wheel and shit like that plz help me ??? i can drive gd normally but its jus these manurers i need to know i am ok opr not thanks

Ha. Back in the day, my instructor used to say something about looking across the car towards the C pillar and lining it up with the apex of the corner. It sounds like your instructor is giving you a rule that works on a typical bend, but may not apply to all corners. It's all bollocks really. Just picture the car as a matchbox car and imagine you are manoveuring it from the outside..... then just make the turn and don't faff with it.

Make the turn by setting the angle in one go and just hold it without shuffling, then again align correctly and once only if you can.

Rversing around corner;

I was taught like 2months ago, go back until you can just see the kurb in the new road in your 'C'(back)(rear window)pillar and turn and try and keep this in that same spot all the way round and when the kurb dissapears keep the lock on until you can see the kurb in your rear windscreen and start to straighten up..

Parralell Park;

Reversing next to a car, Start turning the wheel 1 full turn untill the car is 45degree's(Pointing the kurb) straighten up come back a little then 1 full the otherway and you should finish about 6-10inchs away from the kurb is textbook.

Everyone is dyslexic these days. Best advise for manouvers is to practice practice practice! Untill you acctually go out and keep trying to them correctly you'll never learn no matter how many people tell you there techniques.

I don't think the guy came here for an english lesson, but for some advice on driving manouvres.

My advise would be go really slow, they won't give you a minor for this. Obviously if you are nearly ready for your test you must be used to the car, so your own judgment as to how far you need to turn the wheel should be fine, just take it easy and make sure you check for other cars around you constantly.

in all seriousness, the way i always saw it, was the way i used to play with mycars!

After I'd been driving for about a year and never quite got my head round reverse parking, someone said "One turn on, two turns off" after that, it's easy.

There are as many different ways of learning your manouvers as there are driving instructors. No one way is more right than the other. I passed before all of this bay parking chuff came in etc, but I did find the reverse park and the reverse around the corner tricky - I was on my third driving instructor and my third test before I was just given lots of practice on both these manouvers by my instructor until I got it right. He used the full lock to full lock method of parallel parking, but all techniques are as valid as each other as they are based on a similar principle.

As has been said before, a lot of your ability to do these manouvers is based on your experience and personal judgement, as well as learning a method and sticking to it.

I think the only piece of advice I can give you which will be of any use is to remember that on most cars the top of the back seat will generally be in line with the rear wheels. Manouvers involving going backwards will be about guiding those rear wheels in a particular direction. Use the back seat as a reference point as to where the rear wheels are. What the front wheels do is to a great extent immaterial as long as those rear wheels tidily go in the direction they're supposed to.

Sorry i dont understand your problem, about your tutor telling you how much to turn the wheel. you should know how to steer by now.

However,

Reverse corner: Start turning when half/quarter the car has gone past tangent point (start) of bend then do it smooth and slow. if you can do Car park you can do reverse corner as there basically the same

Parrallel Park: I agree with everyone else get the back directed in, one turn on 2 turns off etc. You will have loadsa room in test, 2 car lengths. So if in doubt go in at a shallow angle, you do not want to hit kerb or you will fail, only a minor for realigning (go back and forward).

I'm not being funny but I think a qualified instructor knows what hes on about? There is no hard or fast rule on how much you should turn the wheel

You just need to keep practicing doing your manouvers untill you can do them. if you really believe its your instructor, get a different one.

Yeh , a teacher of mine back in school got a kid in my class into tears after an argument which lasted about 15 mins because he couldn't realise that saying "i didn't do nothing" actually meant that he must have been guilty because of the double negative. Was funny then and is still rather amuzing.
