One Day Insurnace

Featured Replies

I want to insure my GT for one day so that I can drive it down to the MOT station and back.

My insurance company want £20 just to add it to my current policy for a day, which is too expensive.

I've had a quick look around and found dayinsure.com and they only want £10 + 50p tax. However, you have to be over 21 insure with them, and I'm only 20.

Can anyone recommend a one day insurance company? Cheapest is best :-D

Cheers.

D'oh. Looks like I may have to get my misus insured on it then.

Norwich Union do one-day cover from their website. Don't know about age restrictions or how much it is. It seemed expensive when I had a look.

You could alternatively sell the car to yourself on eBay (use a friends account to list and buy it from yours) then you'd get 7 days' free cover from Norwich Union. I think this would work, although I'm sure it's not ethically sound :paranoid:

And it'd probably cost £20 in fees.

Cheers for that info - just insured myself on my father-in-law's Citroen Berlingo so we can share the driving on a day trip to France - £12.60 including European cover. Excellent. :-D

It handles like a barge but it carries lots of booze.:thumbsup:

£20 sounds fair enough to me.

the other option would be to take out a normal insurance policy with someone and then just cancel it within 14 days. You should be legally obliged to a full refund. I've done it with Tesco before. I don't see a problem with just doing it the once.

yup.. thats right.. "cooling off period" no obligation and a full refund...

so in theory I can agree to pay 4grand to get insured on my dads mini cooper S, rag it about and after 1 week say I dont want it anymore?

I like the sound of that.

rag on private land etc...

In theory, yes, except if you have a crash during the cooling off period, it removes your right to cancel. Therefore you would be liable to pay all the 4 grand under the insurance policy......
