Charlie's Indian Red GT

Featured Replies

Got this on Friday, drives superb. Thought I'd post a few pics up now then some more when it's progressed a lil bit, nice to look back on and all that.

Model: 1991 Polo GT Coupe.

Engine: 1272cc 3F.

Brakes: Standard.

Suspension: About 60/60mm on a PhilJ kit.

Wheels: Standard.

Exterior Styling: Chrome handle inserts, nice shiny bodywork! Later spec lights, clear indicators and smoked side repeaters.

Interior: Standard

ICE and Security: JVC head unit and extra speakers in the back.

A little about the car: Brought the car in November 2006 off a scouse guy. Came with lots of receipts and drives sweet as even though it's done 127K. Belonged to a disabled guy for the first 15 years of it's life.

Future plans: Want to smoke the headlights when I get a chance too. Wouldn't mind a chip and new drivers seat...maybe some 14s at some point.

Daryl- it's got a silver pimstripe of vinyl down the sides, dunno if it's factory or not. The road is at Doveridge, near Sudbury in Derbyshire. If you look closely there is a tractor in the background, hehe.

Next plans are a t-cut, clean the engine bay and all of the inside, boot floor and wheel well etc. Then hopefully get my 70mm kit on. As soon as I have some money I'd like a nice backbox and a chip.

Thanks for the kind comments.

Well, here's an update. Lowered it nearly a month ago, got the engine bay half decent (no pics yet, sorry) and have a few plans for some cosmetic bits and bobs when I get paid again, only cheap stuff though as I'm saving the moneys for the Derby. I have some wheels but still undecided whether to keep them or not...

Sorry bout quality of pics it's my phone as my digicam batteries last about 10 seconds.

Well I've been really busy with the Derb so this has taken a lil while...updated pics!

Still off my phone but it's getting there, new exhaust and a chip and he (his name is Barry in honour of the new exhaust ) and he's pretty much how I want him. Thanks to all those that admired him at Gti fest, if anyone has a decent pic could they send it me? Cheers.

I really want another Indian Red GT/G40 now  !!!!

I would keep them but they belong to Phil, and 'car allowance' money (I have to limit myself ) is going on the Derby. Hence why getting free stuff is good...(you're not getting panties in return by the way so don't get your hopes up ) Fitting these bad boys soon...

them bumpers look mint, nice car.

i drove this from birkenhead to manchester, its quite a nice wee car, i was surprised by how nippy the gts are compared to the g40 (especially as mine had a boost leak due to a hole in the intercooler)

and even tho it was slammed on its ass it did scrape bump or rub.. and looks rude as. those cc bumpers are sweet, i normally prefer the black bumpers but we'll if the car can pull it off.

you do need some lush alloys on this tho charlie surely you must have a set knocknig about in your garage of wonder

ooooooh and shiney engine bits too, get a mk2 rocker cover and polish it up then detail the raised bits. drill the airbox too for a bit of noise :)

get that heatshield of the mani polished and I'm not sure if you need that pipe from the mani to the air feed... and if you are going to keep it get some nice new tubing for it. engine bay will look mint then

Got round to fitting the colour coded bumpers...taking some getting used to but I do liike em as the car looks a lot smarter now. Just need to get some rivets for the arch liners so the front one don't hang down so much. Will get some better pics once I've sorted this.

Car really has changed a lot over the past couple of months, just want some decent 14s now. :)
