if think you can get custom made ones to your own spec, but if i were you i would get some g40 ones as they are stiffer than a lot of cheap lowering springs that i have come across and they lower by 25mm which isnt huge amount (you probably wouldnt even notice the difference) I've kept my ride height std due to the crap roads in my area and i find the g40 suspension handles just fine

g40 ones arent worth the hassle. the fronts are far too soft and too low for any sort of terrain. keep the rear ones as they are good on the back and get some coilovers on the front with bilstein B6 dampers all round

Done a few rallies with the G40 ones on the front now, but they aren't very good under heavy braking!

Thinking of doing a coilover conversion if I can find some spare front struts.

What spring rates/lengths would you recommend? Don't want it too hard incase I damage the front end lol.

The car is used for road rallying.

10" 140lb is whats on mine. i found with g40 fronts on mine it would bottom out loads down the most minor of whites

Yeah mine does the same now, but we don't have as many whites round here as you do, did the morecambe in 2004 and the whites were good!

Does your car have any body roll with those springs?

a bit but not alot really. less than g40 springs anyway

you can get standard height uprated springs but cant remember where from will have a ask around.

the two ways i would go tho are to get uprated shox springs {the smallest lower possible}

10 mil sumpgaurd tank guard exhaust skid if needed + run all brake and fuel lines inside.

or go on rally design get adjustable spring pan kit and find a set of mk2 scort short length 260 60s

then the 2 1/4 springs to match.

the first way you will probably bang and crash a lot more in whites/do more damage to floorpans.

the second you will get away with brake/fuel lines thinner sumpgaurd but will cost more in suspension parts.

tbh it would be much better to spend more on your suspension and not have to stitch your shell back together every event. remember if you go onto coilover you can drop it and raise it as you like. mine will go to standard G40 height upto well over stock CL/GT height. i wouldnt be using escort dampers, you can get proper polo standard stroke bilstein inserts which are right for the car for the same money

Weitec made standard length uprated dampers but I don't know if they made springs to match.

you can get the standard uprated springs but i just found out they are about £250 a set deliverd.

not realy worth it if you can get the billy inserts for escort prices and made for the vw fitment just get that and the adjustable springpans and 2 1/4 springs {shouldnt cost that much more} it will last for years of abuse rallying round the lanes.

G40 springs are great especially for normal road use but you must match them with uprated stiff dampers and you get a quality 'gokartish' ride, The car doesn't even look lowered which is good for oem look. Also thats probs the cheapest way of sorting out suspension but keeping it high/normal.

No idea if its good for rallying, agree that rears are stiff and fronts less so.

Note: G40 springs on own do not have same effect, must pair with good dampers.

i had mine on with bilsteins. it was still shite way too soft on the front (even on general driving)
