Hi what do insurance companies think about induction kits? I'm not going 2 tell them i have one fitted and I'm a bit worried if i have a crash or something and they inpsect my car they will find it. At the end of the day they could decide not to pay out as my car is modified..

Is this silly.. always have a screwdriver in the boot so if anything like that happens i can take the induction kit off. And if they ask about it i just say the air filter broke off due to the force of the crash!

Basically, if your car is modified, and you haven't told them: If you have a crash, you're on your own, they will be well within their rights to invalidate your policy.

As for taking it off in event of an accident. Think about it. Assume you're in a crash, and you're actually fit to start taking bits off your car. How likely is it that you'll be able to explain doing that, particularly if a casualty is involved?

It kind of worries me that people who have this mentality can get driving licenses.

to be honest mate an induction kit really isnt worth it.

True, think about what an induction kit actually means to you. It sounds like this is one of, or indeed your first mods - in which case an induction kit will be like getting a bigger hose for your tumble dryer - it won't really do anything positive.

Dont bother with an induction kit. Get a drill with a wide bit, theres a name for em but i can't remember, and drill holes in your airbox roughly 3/4 to 1 inch across. This allows more airflow into your airbox, and of you fit a cold air feed to these holes, it is almost as good to be honest, and you dont have to pay insurance bonuses for a proper kit.

Have you even phoned up and asked how much extra it will cost?

Declaring all my mods only worked out to be an extra £30 a year over all. It was either that or save £30 and have invalid insurance
