Got Joe's genesis a while back, mot'ed til June 2007, complete with side exit exhaust. I quite like the exhaust, its quite pimp and different. However, come mot time in June, will i need to revert back to standard system to pass emmissions or will it not affect it? I know it doesnt all lie on the side exit (i.e. could fail for other reasons) Just to know in advance, should i put standard back on for mot??

Its easier to state that the car has a cat / healthy lambda than the actual design of the system...

If it is pre CAT testing (<pre 92/93 - not 100% ) and has a healthy lambda and a CAT anyway it should pass the MOT...

If it is straight through with flames spitting out the side - chances are it'll fail!

Its a K- reg 1993, sounds good. I'm going to get my local garage to check the emmision reading just to make sure.

They can fail you for an exhaust being to loud but the tester has to be a proper nice person

mine got failed for noise! I'm mates with the guy who failed it too! it was fookin loud though g40 with one beetle rear silence fitted as a centre and no backbox = big noise, i liked it though

i thought they could only fail you on noise if it is of an age to be covered by the eu driveby regulations (mot time comes jus give the tester a score for his pocket normally works to overlook most things )

that or work in a MOT test centre on saturdays
