I believe it means you will not be offered a fixed penalty, and will have to go to court.

Probably due to the fact you were exceeding the speed limit by over 50%

Yeah, looks like you will have to go to court in which case with some arse kissing and saying you need your car for work and you'd lose your job without it you should get away with just a fine and some points (normally £100 and 6 points.) They could give you a couple of months ban I believe.

i got caught for no insurance - was test piloting the GT I've bought now (was actually last year i ogt caught when my mate i got it off first bought it), and after appearing in magistrates and crying my eyes (almost litterally!!) like a lil girl and pleading with them that i needed my car cos of where i live- middle of nowhere, and cos of my job at the time, i got 2 week ban, no points, £50 fine :)

my brother went to court for drink driving this morning - had 57mg, limit being 35mg, and got a 16month ban, £250 fine, no points.

That said person should get a lawyer (if your a student try legal aid) turn up in a suit and lick alot of arse!

I reckon you'll get a conditional from the procurator fiscals office and not have to turn up in court. Bets are on £100ish and a point or 2 more then the standard 3.

eek. where abouts was this Mark? My cousin got cought doing 58mph heading out of aberdeen on the duel carriageway before the 70 limit. He got 3 points and about a 100 quid fine i think. Didnt help he was "racing" some of his mates on their way to crail tho

The conditional offer means something completely different.

It actually means that you cannot be offered the chance to go on a driving course to improve your driving and avoid the points.

The fixed penalty and points will be added, which is either in the letter or in a subsequent letter.

My mate got offered the conditional rubbish - thats how i know.

He paid £300 to go on a driving course and avoid the points HOWEVER if he was to get caught again in 1yr he would get BOTH sets of points.

My dad got caught last week (1st offence in 36yrs) and got the same letter as you mate.

It isnt until you see the conditional exception letter that you know what it means.
